Readers of all ages are eligible to win prizes throughout the summer at the Grosse Pointe Public Library. Pick-up a Summer Reading Starter Bag at your branch starting June 1, while supplies last.
Sign-up for Summer Reading starting June 1 for a chance to win books, Wally's Ice Cream tokens, gift cards to Whistle Stop, Jets Pizza, giant candy basket, art supplies, Nintendo Switch, AirPods and many other items.
Grosse Pointe librarians have been working hard to put together a summer reading program for children, teens and adults. With more than 30 programs and events planned throughout the summer, "Tails and Tales" encourages participants to track their reading progress throughout the summer. The library is hosting a variety of events to help participants learn, grow and have fun all summer.
“Summer reading directly combats the Summer Slide,” said Keyser. “It’s proven that kids who don’t read throughout the summer can lose up to three months of reading progress, which can have a cumulative long-term effect. Our programs are designed to encourage a love of reading and life-long learning, so that when kids return to school in the fall, they have not only maintained their reading skills but in many cases have improved.”
Adults can have fun with Summer Reading too. Sign-up online and play a special kind of Bingo designed just for you. There's a wide variety of fun challenges to get you reading and learning all free with your library card.
