Sneak Peek of Ewald Renovations
Video Tour
After more than six months the Ewald Branch in Grosse Pointe Park is open for curbside service.
“The pandemic put our construction behind schedule,” said Jessica Keyser, Library Director. “But the finished product was worth the wait.”
The renovation of the Ewald Branch was part of the Library’s Space Needs Assessment. The Board of Trustees approved the plan in 2019 after a yearlong community engagement process. The following improvements were completed:
- Interior refresh of finishes, furnishing and lighting
- Improved sight lines and safety at the main entrance
- New combined circulation and reference desk
- Improved acoustics throughout the building
- New lounge area with a living wall
“We’re thrilled at the transformation of the Ewald Branch,” said Keyser, “It’s more open and welcoming, has more seating and helps us serve our patrons better. I can’t wait until we can welcome everyone back in the library.”
Architects Quinn Evans worked with the Library along with McCarthy Smith and the Roy Company.
“This was a dream team of collaboration,” said Keyser. “Even with the challenges of the pandemic we were able to achieve all of our objectives.”
